Bovine mastitis is a complex disease known to exist from ages, silently draining a huge sum from farmer’s pocket. This disease is also responsible for maximum use of antibiotics in dairy industry. Acknowledged as the
leading cause of antitmicrobial resistance, the need of an hour is to evolve alternate therapeutic modules that are safe, effective, and economical and ecofriendly. Phyto therapy possesses all these properties and is now being visualized as potent alternate to antibiotics. Plants are the store house of bioactive compounds that have antibacterial immunopotency, galactopurifier, galactogogue, anti-inflammatory, properties. Ayurveda clearly present the benefits of these plants and scientists all over the world are now exploring the potential of plants, both in treatment as well as in prevention and control of mastitis.
