Plummer-Vinson Syndrome (PVS) is a rare condition characterized by microcytic hypochromic anemia, atrophic glossitis, and esophageal webs or strictures. This disorder mainly affects middle-aged women and is closely connected to chronic iron deficiency anemia. In this chapter, we will explore the oral manifestations of PVS, the diagnostic criteria for PVS, emphasizing the significance of serum iron studies and endoscopic evaluations. Additionally, we will discuss differential diagnosis, crucial for distinguishing PVS from conditions like pernicious anemia and Sjogren's syndrome. To assist healthcare providers, we will delineate management strategies involving iron supplementation, dietary modifications, and topical treatments. Throughout, we emphasize the importance of regular monitoring and the essential role of dental professionals in early detection and intervention. Our objective is to improve understanding and optimize outcomes for PVS patients through prompt diagnosis and effective treatment.
