This research aimed to investigate the efficient method of green manure production and understand its effect on soil parameters such as water holding capacity, pH, macro and micronutrients. Different plant parts of Plumeria obtusa, a mass flowering tropical tree, were used to determine the best source of Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium. The samples were analysed to study the influence of these macronutrients on the properties of compost and ultimately on the overall plant growth. Results show the flowers are a great source of phosphorous and potassium. In today’s world where farmers are compelled to cultivate to meet the ongoing demand of food crop production, green manures may be the answer for maintaining soil quality. Green manure approaches may improve the agro-economic viability while reducing the effects of land degradation.
