Science and Technology play a significant role in increasing production, bringing prosperity to the rural poor, and accelerating the rapid transformation of the Indian economy. Transfer of technologies to the farming community and their widespread adoption are vital to maximise production, optimise household disposable income, and improve people's standard of living. Technology Assessment and Refinement are closely related to each other in the process of effective dissemination through the demonstration of scientific inventions through appropriate interventions. Nearly 70% of the available agricultural and animal husbandry production technologies are not adopted by farmers due to various constraints, from biophysical to socio-economic conditions operating at the farm level. The most prominent reasons for the low level of acceptance of the technologies are that they are not economically viable, not operationally feasible, not stable, not matching farmer’s needs, and not compatible with existing farming systems.
