Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic had caused severe distress to human lives as well as disrupted the entire economy. As the Covid-19 infection cases emerged in India, the Indian Government imposed a nation-wide lockdown, followed by restrictions on international travel, ban on social gatherings to curb the rapid spread of the deadly infection. The Service Sector which contributed the most to India economy was badly hit by the pandemic. The study aims to examine the financial performance in terms of Revenue earnings (Top-line) and Profitability (Bottom-line) of 20 service based companies. Data analysis was performed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, to determine whether any significant changes have occurred in top-line and bottom-line of service based companies due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. The results show that Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) industry showed a stellar performance in earnings on the other hand Hotels, travel, entertainment, education industry performance got adversely impacted.
