Abstract

This paper examine the trade in India`s with topmost partner countries specially United States (U.S.A.), China, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), Saudi Arabia, Russia, Indonesia, Iraq, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea during the period 2003-2022. The share of exports, imports and net exports have been calculated in India`s to selected partner countries and concludes that during the study periods, the percentage mean share of direction of exports to total exports of India to topmost partner countries have been found highest for U.S.A. and lowest for Iraq and the percentage mean share of direction of imports to total imports of India to topmost partner countries have been found highest for U.S.A. and lowest for Hong Kong. At the same time, the highest mean trade surplus were recorded for India to U.S.A and highest mean trade deficits were noted in India to China. This clearly indicates that in the recent time India adopt their trade policy in such a way which increase the exports and decrease imports to china and other trading partner countries for reducing trade defects. Thus, for the purpose of this the Government of India and policy maker need to adopt policy in such a way to increase total exports for leads economic growth and also increase the imports to increase social welfare of the country.
