Abstract

Plastic is non-biodegradable waste can be controlled only by reduce, reuse and recycle otherwise it is the very challenging to control it. India and other countries banned to use plastic and polythene products as it harm the environment and posses’ threat to human health. But there may be a new hope for its solution as it was fond that caterpillar of Galleria mellonella moth can eat and digest non-biodegradable plastics and polythene waste and hence can save us from plastic pollution and its hazards. It may be a better solution in future. Present discussion demonstrates Galleria mellonella to be a useful model for plastic management. The most interesting thing is to know how the caterpillar along with microorganism in its gut or microbiome could break down and metabolite plastic.
