Vegetative propagation is most important to the nurserymen and growers, because it will be helpful in perpetuation and multiplication of genetically uniform and desirable traits. The asexual reproduction includes cutting, layering, budding, grafting and micro-propagation, which also add benefits of desirable clonal rootstocks, having resistance to biotic (insect pest and diseases) and abiotic stress (drought, frost, cold and salt). The vegetative propagation can also be exploited for rejuvenation of unproductive and senile orchards through top-working. The role of dwarfing rootstocks in high density orcharding had shown significant impact on increasing the productivity of quality produce.
