Plant parasitic nematodes causes serious damage in different agricultural and horticultural crops. Management of these tiny organisms by using gene editing tools is less time consuming and highly effective. Genome editing is a type of genetic engineering in which DNA is inserted, deleted, modified or replaced in the genome of a living organism. Zinc Finger Nuclease (ZFN), Transcription Activator- Like Effector-based Nucleases (TALENS) and Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) are the tools used in genome editing. Out of these CRISPR require only cas9 enzyme and guide RNA to edit the genome, it is simple and cheap method. In Nematology, pathogenicity related gene, host susceptible gene and resistance gene modification can be target of CRISPR. These editing tools helps for development of resistant genotype against nematode and other disease-causing pathogens like bacteria, virus and fungi.
