Abstract

Many Fungi species “Mushroom” have been the epicenter of lure as food, medicine and cosmetics throughout the world. Universal mushroom production skill has been emerging as a multibillion-dollar industry. In 2013, India’s mushroom production was unequally 40 thousand tons which pay about 1% of the total world’s production. Dietetic mushroom deliver a wide variety of medicinal properties and they are operative against certain life hostile diseases. Chief medicinal properties accredited to mushrooms are- antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal, antiparasitic, antioxidant, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, anti-diabetic and boost our immunity and uphold low blood lipid profile. Eatable mushrooms such as Volvariella volvacea, Agaricus bisporus and Calocybe indica are plentiful in India. Calocybe genus include 20 different species including Calocybe indica, which are cultivated through the year in the hot humid climate of India. Calocybe indica own numerous valued biological properties including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and many more functions.
