Silk is an excellent biomaterial and known from ancient time for its biomedical applications. India is rich with mulberry and non-mulberry varieties of silk. The present work summarizes regeneration of silk fibroin proteins in different matrices form for tissue engineering and regenerative medicines. Herein, we also describe the preparation, properties and application of bio-printed silk fibroin-based constructs for biomedical applications.
