Imidazo[1, 2-a]pyridine is a privileged core of a large number of biologically active compounds and widely applicable in medicinal chemistry. The C-3 functionalization of imidazo[1, 2-a]pyridine leads to the synthesis of different drug molecules. The developments of C-3 functionalization in the early hours are mainly focused on the transition-metal-based catalyst systems. However, with the contemporary developments in the synthetic approach, functionalization reactions are carried out with photocatalysts promoted by visible light. The high efficiency and sustainability of photocatalytic reactions are quite attractive from the synthetic point of view. In this context, we highlighted the C-3 functionalization of imidazo[1, 2-a]pyridine using photocatalysts induced by blue LED in recent years.
