Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles has been becoming the center of attraction among the researchers due to their minimum environmental impact and eco-friendly nature. The synthesis procedure is simple, cost effective, energy saving and reproducible as compared to traditional chemical synthesis and also finds important applications in various industrial and biomedical fields. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), in this regard are becoming a rising star because of their significant chemical, physical and biological properties. In the las few decades, numerous efforts have been made to develop synthesis method to avoid hazardous byproducts. The present chapter describes the methods of green synthesis for AgNPs and their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
