Vegetables are an essential part of a healthy diet. However, these commodities commonly suffer from a wide range of disorders affecting the overall quality of the fruits and result in a considerable loss. The physiological disorders observed in most of the vegetable crops is the abnormal growth pattern or abnormal external or internal conditions of fruits due to the extreme variations in the growing environment including climate, soil, water, nutrients, inadequate supply of growth regulators, harmful gases, pests and diseases during pre-and post-harvest periods. A number of steps may be taken during pre as well as post-harvest operations to minimize the occurrence of abiotic disorders. These include proper time of sowing, management of uniform soil moisture, supply of balance nutrients, harvesting at proper stage and accurate post-harvest handling and storage conditions
