Citrus fruits are originated to be frequently in cultivation throughout the tropics and are extremely nutritious and medicinal in nature. They are richest source of flavonoids which are secondary metabolites and rich in medicinal properties such as antioxidative, antiaging, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic and antibacterial etc. Citrus occupies a place of considerable importance in the fruit economy of the country. Citrus fruits are economically important with a large-scale production of both the fresh fruit and processed products. Citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, lemons, limes, tangerines and mandarins whose production is increasing every year with the rise of consumer demands, are among the most popular fruit cultivated throughout the globe. Citrus waste, generated by citrus processing industries in large amounts every year, has an important economic value due to richness of bioactive compounds. Citrus is the most extensively produced fruit in the world.
