Assam, a North Eastern state of India, is a hotspot of ethnomedicinal plants that have been in use to cure diseases from a long period of time by the locals of the state. In the present review study, some of the ethnomedicinal plants of Assam has been enlisted along with their diverse medicinal property. Though these plants have been in use as a traditional remedy to a number of diseases and health problems by the Assamese people, its existence and medicinal importance still somewhere remain unknown to the outside world. Few studies have been conducted to create a database of these medicinal plants mentioning their medicinal importance and commercial potential, however a lot many scientific researches have to be carried to explore everything about these plants so as to encourage their application in modern pharmaceutical and industrial sector. These kind of ethnomedicinal plants of a region face a number of challenges starting from habitat destruction to faulty practices in production and marketing and many more, some of which have been mentioned in the present study. The main objective was to discuss some of the future prospects of these enthnomedicial plants of Assam, depending on which multidisciplinary approach for their study and research could be carried out to come up with valuable conclusions regarding their applicability in health and industrial sector. In the present century, herbal plants are in great demand due to their medicinal property and if proper research of these ethnomedicinal plants are carried out then it immense potential and scope to bring multiple changes in the socio-economic condition of Assam.
