Soil is an important centre of biodiversity. A number of biological and chemical processes occur in the soil. Therefore, fluctuations in soil characteristics and quality are an important indicator for estimating the long-term environmental sustainability. Various biotic and abiotic components interact with each other in the soil, influencing organic matter degradation and nutrient recycling processes. Soil biodiversity is an important characteristic of soil and plays an important role in influencing soil quality. Human activities have caused detoriation of soil, which serves as a habitat for various flora and fauna and leads to a loss of plant and animal biodiversity due to agricultural intensification and other activities. So, agricultural practises that are environmentally friendly must be adopted to preserve the soil fauna biodiversity.
