Abstract

Soils are an important reservoir of biodiversity. Soil biodiversity is an aid that provides ecosystem processes indispensable to the functioning of natural and global systems. Soil organisms help in the development of soils as it fascilitates physical and chemical weathering process of soil formation. They are the driving force for biogeochemical cycles, enhancing uptake of nutrients by plants, improving soil health. This content will give an idea about how above and below ground organisms are regulated by integrating different soil physical and chemical properties. Increasing use of agrochemicals over the period of time leads to accumulation of various pollutants in agricultural soil which deteriorate soil quality which in turn affect soil biodiversity. Micro plastics are an emerging potential threat to soil quality and now are even more relevant during COVID-19 pandemic due to residues of face masks. This is a new concern in this new era. So, in this we also highlight about different emerging threat that leads to soil biodiversity loss as we know soil biodiversity is declining and its management practices.
