Abstract

Fertilizer industry faces permanent challenge to improve use efficiency of their product. Farmers also need one time application fertilizers which release nutrient contained slowly as per crop’s requirement, which will save their production cost as well as increase in yield of crop by maintaining soil health. To overcome these problems slow and controlled-release fertilizers came into existence. Slow and controlled release fertilizer improves fertilizer use efficiency up to 30 per cent over traditional fertilizers. Controlled release fertilizers (CRF’s) having various factors affecting on release rate i.e., temperature and coating thickness. Slow-release fertilizers (SRF’s) have various factors such as moisture, temperature, microbe population in soil, thickness etc. affecting the release rate.
