In viticulture, vineyard managers need to visit the vineyard frequently throughout the entire grape growing process to have a better idea about the crop conditions. For this, 70% of vineyard managers spent time monitoring and understanding the grapevine states instead of doing actual work. Winemakers or vintners spent their valuable time monitoring the maturity of grapes to ensure their quality and to determine the correct time for harvest. The need for smart agriculture arises to save this vineyard management time. In this chapter, important agricultural applications are highlighted, and the applicability of IoT towards improved performance and productivity of vineyards is discussed. Usable hardware platforms, wireless communication technology standards, and IoT cloud services are analyzed for water, soil, humidity, and grape diseases management. After sensing the vineyard, data samples are analyzed and interpreted to determine the severity of fungal diseases on grapevines.
