With the aid of biotechnological advancements, biopharming has revolutionized all sectors of human welfare by fulfilling ever increasing demand of many pharmaceuticals, therapeutic agents, nutritional products, enzymes. The key concept of biopharming is the transformation of genome of suitable bioreactor system by desired gene and then utilization of the transgenic bioreactor for large scale production of the desired gene product at industrial level. Prokaryotic expression system was previously utilized but limitations associated with such expression system has let the scientists to explore eukaryotic bioreactors. Many pharmaceuticals, biomedicines and other protein products have been obtained by employing transgenic technique on animals, cell suspension, plant cells. Plant cell biopharming is now regarded as the ‘Green bio factories’ and has been employed for the production of vaccines, antibodies, biomedicines etc. Plant derived vaccines can be taken orally and other value added transgenic common crops can be an effective approach to mitigate nutritional deficiency. This way, the idea of yielding commercially valuable proteins using biological system on virtually unlimited mode has literally transform the scenario of healthcare and other sectors as it provides a great economic feasibility.
