Medical and dental sciences are undergoing a huge transformation in research. While the conventional methods of descriptive, case-control, cohort and experimental studies remain preferred among researchers, there are a few studies that have evolved over time, namely case-crossover and nested case control studies. This chapter delves into these two study designs and provides a comprehensive insight into the nature of these studies, their feasibility and applicability as well as their advantages and disadvantages over the conventional study designs.
