This chapter gives a general introduction to the principle of nucleation, mechanics of crystal growth and different theories proposed to explain crystal growth mechanics. An ephemeral elucidation along with the merits, demerits and applications of various crystal growth techniques is also provided. It gives an idea about the proper growth implementation that should be applied to grow large, defect free and perfect crystals.
