Quantum computing can be defined as “use of quantum mechanical phenomena such as superposition and entanglement to perform computation”. The quantum computer concept brings a completely different perspective to the classical computer concept. Quantum computing is the upcoming computing technology which can be the game changer for the fields from cryptography to material science, agriculture, and computer science. While it’s true that our current progress with quantum computers seems promising for the upcoming few years, but still, we are facing many challenges and major issues in this field of computing to achieve success & quantum supremacy over conventional computers. This chapter will introduce the concept of quantum computing with brief history about the field. This chapter will be covering the important concepts of quantum computing like qubits and its characteristics and design constraints of quantum system. Moreover, it will also emphasise on the applications, future advancement and scope of quantum technology.
