Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to explore the role of locus of control and self-esteem in procrastination and examine the gender differences between locus of control, self-esteem and procrastination, in Indian adults aged between 18-60 years old. Rotter’s Locus of Control Scale, Procrastination Scale by Lay and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used for this study. A sample of 170 adults were taken where 85 were males and 85 were females. The correlations were done separately for males and females. The results indicated that overall, females scored higher in procrastination and locus of control, which indicates an external locus of control and scored lower on the measures of self-esteem. Limitations and future suggestions are discussed.
