The Nipah virus is one of the greatest concerns for the human race in the present world. This newly emerged zoonosis has shown the potential to significantly increase the human death rate and has reported occasional outbreaks of encephalitis and respiratory syndrome. Since 1998, when it was first identified in the Malaysia outbreak, this rare brain-damaging virus infection continues to emerge in many regions of the world. Although the risk of infection is imposed on almost a quarter of the world, due to the widely distributed natural host (flying fox), there is no approved specific treatment and vaccine available till now, but research continues. This report focuses on the current scenario of the infection and the global threat imposed by the Nipah virus in the future.
