A woman is a new dawn in which all the darkness fades. She is the sun that illuminates everyone and has the power to dispel any dread that grows in the mind's darkness. Women are fundamentally the source of life. The study examines feminism as a theoretical framework for interpreting the female protagonist’s transformation in the films The Great Indian Kitchen (Malayalam) (2021) and Thappad (Hindi) respectively (2020). The mentioned movies challenged the entire social framework that had been entangling women within four walls. These movies gave an attempt to break the stereotyping images of women, especially married homemaker women. General women audience can easily relate to those characters because every day they are leading the same roles in their houses. This research paper also aims to analyse the disparities in women's sacrifices, as well as how and why society encourages this prejudiced attitude. These compromises play a huge role in gender injustice in the deep patriarchal structure of marriage. Here this study analyses the sufferings of female protagonists of these mentioned films in the plight of gender inequality and emotional harassment by exploring the concept of feminism. This paper is also trying to understand the concept of the patriarchal system.
