In context of the post green revolution era with the introduction of high yielding varieties, application of high doses of agrochemicals, enhanced irrigation facilities, the insect herbivores have assumed a special significance. Traditional pest control techniques have aggravated the problem of ecological backlash. The situation has prompted to understand the chemical cross-talk between plant, herbivores and their natural enemies in order to reduce the use of synthetic pesticides and formulate ecologically sustainable pest management tactics. In this chapter, we have reviewed several large scale experiments on plant volatiles and summarized the influence of volatile organic compounds mediating the behaviour of herbivore and their natural enemies. The chapter will also briefly discuss the underlying molecular pathways which are key to such ecological interactions.
