Abstract

Hemiptera is a very diverse order which includes total 37 families and 80,000 species. In agriculture, hemipteran insects are highly destructive and considered as a pest. Mealybugs and scales are the serious pest of agricultural and horticultural crops. They cause massive destruction directly or indirectly by transferring virus to the field and horticultural crops. Honeydew secretion causes the growth of sooty mold, which directly decreases the market value of the fruits. Chemical control is the most commonly used tactic against the mealybugs and scales. However, sole use of pesticides makes the environment pollution and some becoming resistance against the pesticides. Hence, in this chapter we discussed about the agricultural and horticultural important mealybug and scale pests with their integrated management approaches.
