Climate change is a worldwide phenomenon and one of the most pressing issues we face today. Agriculture has a significant environmental impact in the process of providing food and fibre to humans, and climate is the key factor of agricultural output. Weather parameters like minimum temperature, maximum temperature and rainfall showed medium impact on various agriculture crops, as Sirmaur district comes under moderately vulnerable category. Farmer’s perceptions towards climate change revealed that there were long-term changes in the temperature and rainfall, there was also change in timing of rainfall over the years. Majority of farmers viewed that there was a decrease in crop yield over the last 30 years and 70.00 per cent of the farmers believed that there was an increase of variability in the crop yield. Lack of access to early warning information, lack of awareness about climate change, high cost of adoption, lack of credit facilities, lack of labour, limited knowledge to adaptation measures, etc. were the key problems in adopting various farmer’s strategies to cope up with climate change. The Government should ensure timely availability of inputs like fertilizers and seeds in sufficient quantities. Investments should be made in constructing water harvesting structures like tanks, etc. to conserve the scarce moisture. Weather forecasting should be more accurate and government should make policies that can deliver proper information regarding weather and help farmers in planning their cropping pattern accordingly.
