World is observing a population ballooning effect, which necessitate sustainable production of quality food. Disproportionate application of chemical based fertilizers has led to degradation of natural resources such as soil, land, air and water. Phosphorous (P) is an essential nutrient required optimally on regular basis. Chemical based P fertilizers such as di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP) and single super phosphate (SSP) are generally applied. However, 80% of these fertilizers go wasted as an agricultural runoff and pollute the natural water bodies causing algal bloom and eutrophication. Therefore, organic farming is pressing priority to save biodiversity and natural resources. PROM is a best substitute to chemical based P fertilizers and is effective in enhancing yield and productivity. Various studies on distinct crops using PROM as an organic P fertilizer are undertaken and proved effective in escalating yield, quality and productivity of grain crops. This book chapter focuses on PROM, mechanism of P uptake by plants, method of production, chemical composition and benefits of PROM. The overall production and application process is simple, easier, less laborious, require less time and economic in nature. Further the chapter highlights effect of PROM on different crops based on previous research and studies undertaken.
