Since, time immemorial medicinal plants have been used as therapeutic purpose in prevention and treatment of various ailments. There were many evidences that medicinal plants have been used in management of cardiovascular diseases. But use of the medicinal plants were mostly based on traditional knowledge of herbal formulations rather than scientific research. A recent high prevalence in use of indigenous plants has created the interest among the scientific societies in conducting proper validated researches. This chapter covers the overview of indigenous medicinal plants having therapeutic potential against cardiovascular diseases. Total 25 numbers of traditional medicinal plants were discussed in terms of their antihypertensive, circulatory stimulant, cardio-protection, vasorelaxant effect, antiatherosclerosis effects. However, many medicinal plants have not been investigated yet, therefore more pharmacological, phytochemical studies are required in this area to confirm the traditional claims of utilization of indigenous medicinal plants.
