Abstract

Over the years, herbs have active chemical phytoconstituents which could potentially participate in wound healing activity. All the medicines which were traditionally used for curing wounds were obtained from plant sources. Herbal medicines have healing power and rejuvenation of lost tissues by different routes of mechanisms. The herbs are affordable and for safety purposes have gained an apparent position in the world for wound healing but scientific evidence is very few to manage wounds. Wound is nothing but the common injurious condition facing by the body which is established due to simple or complex internal factors or external environmental factors too. Injuries may include immunological factors misbehaviour, inflammation, necrosis etc. Wound healing is a complex and dynamic process of replacing devitalized and missing cellular structures and tissue layers. The present chapter attempts to highlight various medicinal plants which scientifically proved for the healing of wounds.
