Abstract

Bael (Aegle marmalos) is a fruit plant with pharmaceutical benefits. Trifoliate green leaves are utilized for worshiping to God. Mature fruit pulp is yellow in colour and delicious in taste. While immature fruit, leaf and other plant parts have therapeutic purposes because of their secondary metabolites (aegelin, marmaloin and so forth). That is the reason from ancient time, different plant parts of bael were utilized for treating number of diseases. Presently, so many research works are going on in pharmaceutical institutions. Bael has anti-microbial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and so on impacts and used to treat diseases like, dysentery, diabetes and so on.
