Medicinal Plants and its Benefits in Our Day to Day Life
(Volume - 10)

Abstract

Medicinal plants have long been used as healing agents, with their diverse phytochemical composition and multifaceted roles in modern medicine. These plants contain alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, polyphenols, and essential oils, which contribute to their therapeutic efficacy. These bioactive compounds have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral, and anticancer properties, making them promising candidates for developing novel pharmaceuticals. Drawing from traditions of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, and indigenous healing practices, medicinal plants have been used to treat a wide range of ailments. Integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific research presents an opportunity to harness the full potential of these botanical resources for improved healthcare. However, sustainable harvesting and cultivation practices are crucial to prevent overharvesting and habitat degradation. Ensuring safety and standardization is also essential for responsible use of plant-based medicines. In conclusion, medicinal plants represent a vast and promising reservoir of natural remedies with significant medicinal potential.
