Abstract

Green chemistry is considered to be one of the most explored topics in recent years. Research in the field of green chemistry reduces the production of the toxic and harmful by-products and also maximizes the required product in an environmentally friendly way. It minimizes the waste generation, uses catalysts by replacing reagents, renewable resources, and improves the waste disposal methods in the best possible manner without causing any damage to the environment and living beings. Green chemistry aims in eliminating the toxic release of chemicals during synthesis and production of unsafe substances. Scientists can significantly minimize the hazards to environment and improve the health of humans by utilizing the ideologies efficiently. Principles can be achieved by the use of harmless, reproducible substances and recycling solvents and catalysts in reactions and in researches. This chapter discusses the implementation of green chemistry practices, applications and tools in everyday life by applying innovations to provide scientific solutions in sustainability of the existing resources. In near future, almost all divisions of chemistry is expected to depend on green chemistry to a greater extent in order to decrease air, water, and soil pollution caused by the usage of chemical wastes. Aiming for prompt interventions in creating changes on a larger scale, green chemistry and associated approaches play a major role in addressing the environmental issues and altering the materialistic basis of the economy and the society, obviating the necessity to rely upon the conventional procedures and at the same time, serve in enabling progress and in reinforcing the status quo.
