Vaccines have an important role in lowering the worldwide burden of infectious illnesses. Global vaccination efforts have aided in the eradication of illnesses such as smallpox, measles and poliomyelitis from large sections of the globe, saving millions of lives. Although the concept of plant-based medications or vaccines encourages us to produce commercially viable goods using plant engineering, there are certain challenges in achieving the ultimate goal: manufacturing an approved product. The lack of vaccines for the treatment of serious diseases has prompted a worldwide focus on developing safer, easier and more effective vaccines, resulting in the creation of plant-based vaccines.
