This chapter focuses on human growth and development over the lifespan that help readers to understand various physical, cognitive, social and emotional developments. Growth refers to physical increase in some quantity over time. It includes changes in terms of height, weight, body proportions and general physical appearance. Whereas development is a process of change in growth and capability over time due to function of both maturation and interaction with the environment. It gives a background in human growth and development from birth, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and through old age. It gives a broad perspective on development of all stages and developmental milestones from birth to death. This chapter also illustrate different activities and time of the particular activity of the individual. It also enhances understanding of individual’s intelligence, abilities, attitudes, motivation, aptitudes, personality and interactions of the individual in the peer group.
