Technical textiles are a major sector for technological advancement in recent times. Out of its many areas, agrotextile is one such sector where technology and textiles are growing hand-in-hand. In the current scenario, agrotextile products play a vital role in agriculture from production and quality points of view. Most of the agrotextiles are manufactured from manmade fibers using woven, knitted or non-woven structures. The applications of agrotextile products have shown great outcomes and positive impacts on the growth and production of various crops. Agrotextile products are used to the safeguard the crop from weather, wind, wed, birds, sunlight, etc. This chapter explains the need and importance of agrotextiles with high performance properties that ideally must be considered for preparing agrotextiles and agrotextile products making them commercially and technologically viable. It also highlights the characteristic properties desired for natural fibre based agrotextile products.
