Smartphone is a device which has become life necessity of the people in this modern time. Students are also using this device due to its numerous functional uses. This device is becoming a drug to users as they are using it for unlimited time. Health problems are arising because of its consistent use. These were left aside to move to a global alert; we refer to the pandemic crisis that all the nations of the world are facing. Confinement forced people all over the world to stay at home; therefore, communications through electronic devices became very necessary. Main aim of this chapter is the reviews investigate some aspects of the emerging literature on the impact of smartphone on adolescent’s life. Smartphone addiction is increasingly affecting the masses and is negatively impacting the younger generation. Among the young people, students are increasingly using smartphone. But excessive Smartphone usage usually makes the students addicted to it and that impacts on user’s academic performance, daily activities, physical and mental health, withdrawal tendency, and social relationships. Moreover, mobile phone addiction is negatively associated with academic performance among university students globally, and high-frequency mobile phone users spent less time on academic attention, interest, and investment. Smartphones are becoming increasingly indispensable in everyday life and offer a substantial variety of smartphone applications for information, communication, education and entertainment purposes. While using smartphone, people become unmindful that cause thousands of death and faulty activities. Its adverse effect is also seen in work-related tasks, classroom leanings and academic performance. In classroom, students engage in surfing web, social networking, checking emails and text messages and consequently pay less attention to their lessons. Moreover, students spend more time with their smartphone that hampers their regular studies. The awareness of possible negative consequences of smartphone usage certainly reduces the overuse of smartphone. Few studies have been articulated the impact of smartphone addiction on students’ academic performance and life satisfaction. It is necessary to take further steps in developing recreational programs and the active involvement of teens to maintain their mental health. Therefore, higher education institutions and parents must develop awareness for adolescents. Indian government should establish policies to raise awareness on this issue for a better future of youth as a priority action.
