The chapter discussed hand sewing tools and the sewing machine. The sewing tools explained were grouped majorly as, cutting tools, measuring tools, tools needed for ironing, fitting tools, pattern marking transfer tools and tools needed for storage. Other tools outside these grouping include tweezers, stiletto, thimble, seam ripper, magnet, bodkin, emery cushion, sturdy tools and needle threader. The tools and the equipment were discussed in terms of their uses in relation to sewing and clothing construction generally. Pictures and diagrammes were used for clarity and retention for the readers.
