In Ayurveda, Shalakyatantra is one of the eminent branch based on many methods of management. Among which Agnikarma is boon for local Vataja and Kaphaja Vyadhi. Its effect can be assessed as Sthanik Karma (local action), Saarvadaihik Karma (Action throughout the body) and Vishista Karma (Special actions). Agikarma ensures complete cure of disease to avoid recurrence. Agnikarma is one of such promising procedure which is given atmost importance over all mentioned treatment modalities in Ayurveda, due to its permanent curative effect. In modern medicine, there is no use of therapeutical burn i.e., Samyak Dagdha Chikitsa but it can be in other form e.g., Cauterization which is used for coagulation and tissue destruction. Urdhwajatrugata Rogas are mainly formed due to vitiation of Vatadi doshas i.e. mainly Vata and Kapha. Agnikarma is considered as the best therapy to pacify Kaphanubandha Vata Dosha because Agni possesses Ushna, Tikshna, Sukshma, Aashukari Gunas, which have Vatahara and Kaphahara properties. In this chapter we are focusing on the role and action of Agnikarma in various Netra, Nasa, Mukha, Karna (Urdhwajatrugata Rogas) diseases mentioned in our samhitas.
