Tiruchirappalli is one of the important towns in Tamil Nadu. It is the historically important place. There are number of temples in Trichy. Trichy was the capital of Cholas and Nayaks. It has been ruled over by many dynasties, such as Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas, Nayaks, Muslims and the British. Those dynasties contributed very much for the growth and development of art and architecture in South India. They built many temples and the Rock Fort temple is the most important one. It was first built by Pallava King Mahendravarma-I.
