The temples of Tamil Nadu are known to the entire world for their grandeur size, peculiar architectural styles and unique iconographical features. In the recent years, the study of temple architecture has attracted many art historians for they provide many information regarding the past history and culture. In this context, the study of the Padalisvara temple which is in Tirupadirippuliyur located in Cuddalore district to bring into lime light about the antiquity of that temple. Having gained the popularity as one of the ancient temples of Tamil Nadu, it had also earned the merit of being sung by Saiva saints (padal petra sthalam).
