Abstract

Most common prevailing arthritis in the world-wide is osteoarthritis. It is the causative factor for pain, inflammation, swelling in the knee joint. Chronic cases with osteoarthritis gradually develop deformities at the knee joint as after effects of osteoarthritis. Aetiology behind the Osteoarthritis reside like; injury, infection older age and degeneration. Grade 1, 2 and 3 type of osteoarthritis can be managed conservatively by means of medicines and physiotherapy. However grade 4 type of osteoarthritis is managed effectively by surgical Intervention i.e. total knee replacement surgery. Osteoarthritis is the leading cause of deformities in the community. Post-total knee replacement surgery patients have many issues such as imbalance, incoordination, misalignment and muscular weakness. However, better management of osteoarthritis is combined approaches in the context of conservative and surgical. Therefore post-surgery cases could be treated with physiotherapy interventions in terms of exercises and prosthetic management. Thus, better functional performance could be achieved by means of physical intervention for patients with knee osteoarthritis of any category.
