Assam lemon is a member of the Citrus group fruit which belongs to the family Rutaceae. It is known by different names in different places. It originated as a chance seedling in Assam state of India. The Assam lemon is a versatile fruit with large, concentrated juice, making it useful in various culinary, nutritional, industrial, and medicinal applications. It is used in pickles, jams, squashes, marmalades, and jellies, and is a good source of citric acid, folic acid, and vitamin C, which helps prevent oxidation of folic acid found in fresh fruits. It can be grown in all types of soil and in tropical to subtropical climates. It is commercially propagated by single-leaf node cutting. At proper management practices, fruit can be produced 2-3 times more than traditional cultivation methods.
