Modifying the microclimate and adding organic materials as well as improving good cultivation techniques are important factors in optimizing the use of dryland. Application of 3 t ha-1 of rice straw mulch and 3 t ha-1 of cow manure compost can modify the plant growing environment, namely by reducing soil temperature and increasing soil moisture, as well as improving soil chemical properties, namely by increasing cation exchange capacity, pH, C-organic, total N, P availability, K and C/N ratio. Apart from that, it also increases plant growth and yield which can be seen from plant height, number of leaves, root length, root dry weight, total leaf area, number of tubers per cluster, tuber diameter, tuber elapse weight and tuber yield. Tuber yield increased from 4.27 t ha-1 to 10.22 t ha-1. Providing Trichoderma mixed with organic fertilizer can reduce the incidence of fusarium wilt disease.
