Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to access the knowledge about kinesthetic perception regarding learning in physical education with related concept for the future application and interpretation. In physical education subject the term ‘kinesthetic perception’ is an important concept as it is related to the activity for the movement and the performers perform the specific activity with eyes closed and also with concentration about the activity. The term kinesthetic perception is the ability to perceive the position and movements of the body during muscular action. The various terms or words are associated with the kinesthetic as kinesthetic perception, kinesthetic learning, kinesthetic proprioceptor, kinesthetic feedback, and kinesthetic awareness. The characteristics of the kinesthetic learners are require to learn during movement, on the other hand, the tactile learners are require to learn during fine motor movement or hands on touch. However, in Physical Education subject, the physical educators are used to evaluate the degrees amongst the participants for a specific activity. For the purpose of kinesthetic evaluation among the participants, several practical kinesthetic perception tests were adopted in a specific activity. The several practical kinesthetic perception tests are as ‘distance perception jump’, horizontal linear space test, vertical linear space test, pedestrial kinesthetic test of size, kinesthetic obstacle test. These types of tests were uses for the purpose of ability to determine the distance, ability to predict position during movement, ability to determine the space in a prescribed distance. The term kinesthetic perception is an important concept for the purpose of learning as well as in the specific activity in the subject of physical education.
