Purpose: Main purpose of the study was to find out the effect of interval training for developing endurance (anaerobic and aerobic endurance) among the middle- and long-distance runners of Hyderabad and to analyze the performance on middle and long distance runners, with a view to contribute for the growth of knowledge in the field.
Methodology: For this research study, 30 middle distance and 30 long distance male runners who have been participating regularly in the inter collegiate athletic meet in the events of middle and long distance, representing from twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad degree and P.G college teams affiliated to Osmania University, between the 18-21 years of age were selected. Fifteen subjects from middle distance runners (N=15) and fifteen subjects from long distance runners (N=15) were randomly selected after the pre-test of aerobic and anaerobic endurance test for experimental group (treatment group). The remaining fifteen subjects in middle distance (N=15) and fifteen subjects in long distance group (N=15) were selected for control group.
Conclusion: The results of this research showed significant difference found interval training for developing endurance (anaerobic and aerobic endurance) among the middle- and long-distance runners. Maximum oxygen consumption %vo2max, HRmax%, maximum anaerobic capacity, minimum anaerobic capacity, average anaerobic capacity and anaerobic fatigue showed exact significance of 0.05 levels.
