The term "nutraceutical" was first used in 1989 which denotes compounds that promotes health. Nutraceuticals have been shown to strengthen the immune system, improve cardiovascular health, and help prevent infection and cancer. Nutraceuticals are divided into classes according to their makeup and mechanism of action. This chapter will cover the various types of nutraceuticals and their possible medical benefits, including their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-lipid qualities. Furthermore, in the previous few decades, urbanization, industrialization rate, and quick changes have all had a significant impact on lifestyles, leading to the development of a junk food eating habit. These activities gradually limit the quantity and quality of nutrients consumed, which impacts one's capacity to eat properly. The population's shifting eating patterns are contributing to an increase in dementia, famine, and degenerative diseases. Concerns over people's health and access to healthcare have increased in the past several years and hence, inclusion of nutraceuticals have increased drastically.
